Enable + Courage = Encourage!

A midday update from the class of 1C. It's been a great half a day being out in the sand, sun and sea at East Coast Park. Our girls spent the morning learning about basics of sandcastle building from the skillful instructors. The girls have had the chance to work on a design of their sandcastles earlier in the term. It was the time for them to put their plans into action. Take a look at how their experience went :) Enjoy!

An impressive centrepiece created by the sandcastle-building instructors to welcome our girls.

The tools to be used for the day.

The students first had to learn about basic sandcastle-building techniques from their instructor.

Then the real hard work began!

The girls started with laying their groundwork...

And then some structures started taking shape...!

And the final products?

It has been a lot of hard work for our ladies, but the insights gained through the process definitely made the experience something memorable for everyone. Through the sandcastle-building experience, the girls learnt the importance of helping and encouraging each other. As our instructor, Joy, has aptly put it, " 'Encourage' is about Enabling Courage" -- enabling our friends to have the courage to stay committed and persevere through any learning process. Just like building sandcastles, we also need to remember that success is built consistently, and stepwise. While there may be failures and struggles along the way, staying committed to the process will eventually pay off.
We do hope the girls have found this a meaningful experience for themselves :)
