The EFL programme for our Sec 1 girls have begun! Today, our girls visited various locations, and Sec 1R had the opportunity to visit the Science Centre and learn about making some delicious chocolate ice cream. Combining home econonmics skills with practical knowledge of chemistry, the Sec 1R girls explored the secret ingredients and steps to make ice cream taste creamy and sweet.
Ice cream making is no simple task; the girls first prepared the precise amounts of ingredients, and then practised the crucial task of whisking the mixture to get the right consistency and creaminess.
Working closely in groups, the girls divided the tasks and here the girls are seen carefully putting their mixture into the electronic ice cream maker. All that is left is to wait for the machine to work its magic!
While waiting for their ice cream, the girls tried several science experiments, such as testing the effects of adding salt or sugar, and seeing how this affects the freezing point of ice.
After an eager wait, the ice cream was ready! The girls rushed excitedly to try out their finished product.
Sweet success! The girls proudly holding up their very own chocolate ice cream... who knew that learning chemistry and home economics together could be so fun. :) As the girls finished up their labour of love, they wondered what other exciting things there were in store for them later in the day.
Stay tuned for more updates from Sec 1R and the other classes! :D
