Sandcastle building day with 1J....

So for the third day of EFL, 1J went to East Coast Park for their sandcastle building.

All of them were listening attentively to the instructor's instructions.

Next, they watched the instructor doing a demonstration on building sandcastles.

Finally, 1J in action!

Their final products are finally out! Well done ladies!

Water parade time!

Before we ended the camp, five awards were given.
Both Suzannah (above) and Agatha (below) were given the award for their remarkable leadership qualities shown during the EFL camp.

Next, Michelle (above) and Manarina (below)  were given the 'Most Helpful' award because they are always constantly taking the initiative to help their classmates out during the EFL camp.

Lastly, Melissa was given the 'Most Improved' award due to her remarkable improvement in......you may want to find it out from her. ;)

So here's a photo of 1J with Mr Paul Tan and me (missing Ms Cynthia Teo).

Really enjoyed this EFL camp with 1J! Despite the fact that I have only seen them thrice before the camp, never did I expect I will be able to bond with them so much throughout these three days. They are one bunch of lovely ladies and I am already missing all of them!

Last but not least, the ladies decided to end the camp with a cheer!

It's a Wrap!! :)

It's a wrap guys! All smiles at the end of the EFL Camp for our Sec 1s. It's been a tiring experience, but hopefully the real world learning has been enriching and eye-opening. The girls have made invaluable friendships, learning about themselves and their relationships with their fellow peers. May they take these experiences and build on them for the rest of the year! :)

Day 3 Highlights with Sec 1R

On the final day of the EFL camp, Sec 1R spent most of the day outdoors. First, we visited Tiong Bahru to learn about a unique residential estate close to our school. It was a fruitful day learning about Singapore's past, inspirations regarding architecture and housing. To round off, the girls enjoyed some heritage food at Tiong Bahru food centre :)

Tiong Bahru Heritage Tour

Next, we went on to the National Museum to visit the SG50 exhibit and learn about Singapore's past. Significantly, this exhibition looks at Singapore's history which pre-dates our modern founding by Sir Raffles... looking back 700 years when Singapore was already a thriving fishing state and trading port.

To finish off a lovely day, the girls surprised their Class Chairperson and celebrated her birthday. What a lovely show of class solidarity!

Sec 1D & 1MM (Day 3): Food, Glorious Food!

Hello, Day 3!

The girls went to the Science Centre to get to know more about Health & Nutrition, and they also carried out some experiments.

The students listening attentively as Ms Rose was going through her lecture slides.

For the first activity, the students were given 4 types of drinks. They were supposed to predict the amount of glucose in each drink before carrying out their experiment. Each group was given a bottle of glucose test strips, and they were supposed to compare the colour of the strip to the colour chart in order to record the actual readings.

Here are some students analyzing their results.

For the next activity, students were tasked to record the time taken for the fluid to flow out of 2 different cups. This experiment is related to the blood flow in the human body, where the straw represents our blood vessels.

Now for some fun! In their groups, the girls made Muesli Cups - not only were they healthy, they tasted yummy too!

Carefully melting the butter to prevent it from burning.

Filling and pressing the Muesli Cups into the cupcake liners.

Here's the end product! Don't they look great?

After heading back to school for lunch, the girls carried on with Values in Action (VIA), where they completed their pledges and baked Honey Joys in our school's kitchens.

One of our teachers explaining the steps in making Honey Joys.

Time to start! Step 1: Melting the butter, sugar and honey.

Good teamwork, girls!

Step 2: Pouring in the melted ingredients and mixing it with the cornflakes.

Step 3: Transferring the mixture into the cupcake liners.

Time to put them in the oven!

Here's some of the girls from 1D with their final product!

That marks the end of the Secondary 1 EFL journey. It has indeed been a memorable one. We look forward to seeing you next year! :)
